The FLAG Art Foundation is pleased to host a book signing for Hilary Harkness: Everything For You. Co-published by Black Dog Press and P·P·O·W, the catalogue is Harkness’s first comprehensive monograph and features new texts by Lynn Tillman, Dr. Ashley Jackson, and an interview with American painter Ivy Haldeman. A performance by harpist Dr. Ashley Jackson will take place at 7 PM. The artist will be present at the event and books will be available for purchase.

Hilary Harkness (b. 1971, Detroit, MI) is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Harkness graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, CA, in 1993, and received an MFA from Yale University School of Art, New Haven, CT, in 1996. Solo exhibitions include Prisoners From the Front, P.P.O.W., New York, NY (2023) and Hilary Harkness, The FLAG Art Foundation, New York, NY (2013); among others. Recent group exhibition include Drawn Together Again, The FLAG Art Foundation (2019); Heroines, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, Spain (2011); Invitational Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture, American Academy of Arts and Letters, New York, NY (2009); Unforeseen, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Portland, OR (2003); and Best of the Season, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT (2001); among others. She is in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; Yuz Museum Shanghai; Mead Art Museum, Amherst, MA; and the Seavest Collection, New York, NY; among others. In 2017, she received the Henry Clews Award and participated in the inaugural Master Residency Program at the Château de La Napoule, France. Harkness has been featured in publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker, Interview Magazine, Esquire, among others. She taught painting and sculpture as Artist in Residence at Yale Summer School of Art and Music, New Haven, CT, and has lectured at Columbia University, Boston University, Yale University, Brandeis University, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. In 2013, Hilary co-curated Roy Lichtenstein: Nudes and Interiors at The FLAG Art Foundation.
